JEDWARD have opened up about the surreal moment they performed an intimate gig for Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire.
The X-Factor duo, John and Edward Grimes, have been known to enjoy time in LA with their friend Tara Reid.
They met Tara while they were on Celebrity Big Brother and the three friends even spent lockdown together.
The pair gushed about their time in Los Angeles and recounted the time they met and performed for the two Hollywood actors.
Edward started out explaining: “The thing about LA is we’re not there to be known we’re there to have normality.
“It’s so nice when you meet people and they don’t have these expectations.”
He later added: “John was performing for Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire.”
John chimed in saying: “I’m in a restaurant. I’m with Tara, it’s her birthday, it’s Leo’s birthday, Leo gives Tara a big massive hug then some other girl was playing the guitar I can’t remember her name.
“We sang Coldplay, Wonderwall, Hallelujah all crowd pleasers got them all involved and Tobey Maguire and Leo imagine!
“This all happened in LA but could never have if you were in London or somewhere.”
Edward added: “And that was literally our last trip.”
John finished off the story by saying: “So you never know what’s going to happen.
“I just know you’ve got to put yourself out there and it was a rainy day it was a day where you would go, ‘Nah I’m not going to leave the house I’m going to sit here’.”
The Dublin duo have been performing for 14 years and have seen their fair share of bizarre gifts from fans.
Edward revealed: “Someone has given us a bottle of Tom Forde when they met us so we would smell good.
“They’ve given us locks of their hair. Some of them have named their fish after us, their dogs after us.
“There are loads of dogs called Jedward.”
John chimed in saying: “It all becomes normal.”
Edward continued: “A lot of people have gotten proposed to at our concerts so recently we got a Cameo that was like, ‘We got proposed and now we’re getting married’.
“A lot of people have had their moments where they have found each other at Jedward concerts.”
The pair also opened up about their love life as they admitted they like to keep that out of the public eye.
Edward said: “Yeah I am very single right now.
“We’re kind of career-focused I feel like right now we need to hone it in and set ourselves up for the next 20 years so we’re going to start looking for a new team.
“We’ve never had a team. We see all these other artists that have like agents for everything but it would be good if we gave ourselves the chance and had like different people.
“Everything happens for us organically I feel.”
Meanwhile, John revealed: “I’ve dated a cool girl… she’s fun. We’ve had lots of fun out and about on adventures.
“I went to Amsterdam for her 30th birthday to see Beyonce.
“It’s my private life. I’ve had loads of cool relationships over the years but it’s never meant to be a part of my career.
“I know people use these things for their careers I just keep it real.”
The performing pair have also spoken about their love to represent Ireland at Eurovision again.
They took to the stage in 2011 and 2012 however both times they failed to make it to the final.
However, they are hoping a third time will be the charm.
They said: “100% we’d do it [Eurovision] again. We’ve already booked our flights and hotel for Sweden next year.”
Jedward spoke about this as they help take over a Subway restaurant in Swords, Co. Dublin and gave customers a ‘Jepic’ surprise as they handed out free Big Breakwich subs from the new Subway Series menu.
The dynamic duo flattened their hair and donned hair nets and gloves as they stepped behind the counter to learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to being a Subway Sandwich Artist.
The Big Breakwich is part of the new Subway Series menu. Subway worked with top chefs to create 15 all-new signature Subs, Submelts, Wraps and Salads on the Series menu.
There are now two ways to Subway, and you can continue to ‘create your own’ with your favourite combination of ingredients.
