Grimes duo shook buckets at Heuston Station and tell the Irish Sun how the Naughton brothers’ story ‘moved’ them

BIG-HEARTED Jedward spent hours collecting money for three terminally ill brothers during the week.

The pop duo took time out of their busy schedule to help Archie, Isaac and George Naughton turn on the Christmas tree lights at Heuston Station in Dublin.

After the ceremony, the Lucan lads picked up buckets and asked the public to donate to the Join Our Boys campaign.

The brave youngsters — aged nine and five — were all diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy in 2012 for which there is no cure.

John, 24, told the Irish Sun: “It was lovely to be able to help little Archie, George and Isaac — they’re just so great.

“We love all our fans — but the story of these three has especially touched us and we’d do anything for them.

“We raised so much money and everyone was so giving. We had so many people giving us €20 and €10 notes — at one stage we had more paper money then we did euros and two euro coins.”

Parents Paula and Padraic Naughton are trying to raise as much money as they can to help their boys beat the deadly disease.

Mum Paula thanked John and Edward Grimes for giving up their time yesterday — and has appealed for more singers and entertainers to get involved.

She said: “John and Edward are fabulous. We all adore them. They were there for over four hours! Just amazing.”

Eldest lad Archie is celebrating his tenth birthday in two weeks’ time and he’s a huge fan of Irish rock band The Script.

Paula added: “He knows the words to all their songs and is learning some on his drums!

“If they were able to pop into Heuston on December 19 it would be fantastic. Oh, let’s face it I would let him skip school to meet them!”

Jedward are not the only celebrities who have been touched by Archie, Isaac and George’s story.

Music mogul Simon Cowell recently made the brothers’ dreams come true when he personally invited the lads over to The X Factor studios in London.

The Roscommon boys also took snaps with fellow judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

Nurse Paula said: “It was great. Archie is a big Simon Cowell fan — he calls him ‘cool Simon’ so he was very excited about the whole thing.”

“Simon’s such a genuine, nice man. We also met his partner Lauren and little boy Eric. He kept his word and that was really nice — for someone like him to remember us meant a lot.”

The Irish Pride Awards winner added: “Every passing week Archie and the other children are getting weaker and weaker because of this disease.

“Our first target is €1.2million and our second target is €6m for a clinical research trial. We basically need a miracle, we need someone to say here’s €500,000, there you go.”
